The Kansas City T-Bones split a pair of games on Tuesday night in a unique doubleheader, beating Lincoln 9-1 in the first game, and losing to Winnipeg in the nightcap, 4-1. The doubleheader ended the exhibition season for Kansas City.

A three-run second inning gave the Winnipeg Goldeyes an early advantage over the T-Bones in the second game of the doubleheader. Rightfielder Josh Mozzola hit a double that scored catcher Luis Alen and second baseman Matt Cusick. In the very next at-bat, third baseman Amos Ramon smacked a double, scoring Mozzola and giving the Goldeyes a 3-0 lead.

The T-Bones scored their first and only run in the fifth inning when left fielder Brandon Jones hit a single that scored third baseman Aric Weinberg. Kansas City missed a key opportunity in the first inning when it left three men on base.

First baseman Yurendell deCaster capped the Winnipeg scoring with a solo home run in the sixth inning.

The T-Bones had little trouble with the Lincoln Saltdogs in the first game of the night, winning 9-1.

Brandon Jones led the T-Bones with two home runs and a double. Jones’ first homer in the first inning nearly reached the top of the berm in right field.

Matt Garza went 2-for-3 for the T-Bones with a pair of RBI singles. Second baseman Sean Henry teamed up with Jones for back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning.

Right-handed pitcher Brain Grening threw six innings, striking out five and giving up one run.

The T-Bones now get set to open their 10th regular season with a four-game series against the New Jersey Jackals on Thursday night at 7:05 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
