Former Bonner Springs, Kansas City Chiefs football player to be inducted in Kansas Hall of Fame

David Jaynes, a first-team All-Big 8 and All-America selection in 1973, graduated from the University of Kansas as the school’s leader in passing yards and touchdown passes.

His records, which included a total of 5,132 passing yards and thirty-five touchdown passes, stood for over twenty five years. Jaynes led the Jayhawks to a second-place finish in the  Big-8 in 1973 when he led the league in passing with 2,131 yards. 

He also guided the Jayhawks to the Liberty Bowl that magical season.  Jaynes, a graduate of Bonner Springs H.S, was a third round selection by the Kansas City Chiefs in 1974.
