A home at 5205 Woodend was destroyed by a fire on Wednesday morning.

The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department reported to the scene of the fire at 4:11 a.m. Wednesday morning.

"Crews on the scene within three minutes reported heavy fire coming from the roof of a one-story wood framed residential structure," said Craig Duke, KCK Fire Department Batalion Chief. "Crews were able to perform interior attack until roof of structure collapsed."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the fire department. One firefighter injured a hand while battling the fire. However, a full recovery was expected.

The American Red Cross was called out to assist three adults.

Outside of the firefighter's injured hand, no one else reported an injury.

The home was declared a "total loss" by Duke.
