KCKCC to offer fall business solution business breakfasts

A series of five Business Solution breakfast meetings will be held at Kansas City Kansas Community College this fall to help further economic expansion in Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties.

The kickoff breakfast will be held at KCKCC’s Leavenworth Center Tuesday, Sept. 18, with the final four sessions to be held on the main campus starting Thursday, Sept. 20.

Held from 7:30-9 a.m., the cost is $10 including breakfasts or $30 for persons pre-registering for the four meetings on the main campus.

“The series will allow area entrepreneurs and businesses to collaborate, learn and grow,” says Jay Matlack, Workforce Development Coordinator at KCKCC. “We’ll have two or three experts presenting on each of the topics at each of the breakfast sessions.”

The focus for the opening breakfast at the Leavenworth Center at 225 Cherokee on Sept. 18 will be on the way businesses can operate in a more environmentally friendly way while saving money. The remaining meetings to be held in Room 2325 of the Jewell Student Center on the KCKCC campus at 7250 State Avenue:

Sept. 20 – Managing Your Procurement Expectations. A discussion about the procurement process and procedures and how to best purchase from suppliers.

Oct. 16 – Social Internet Marketing. Creative, effective and unconventional ways of promoting a business.

Nov. 13 – Managing Benefits. Resourceful work approaches concerning flexible options, insurance and the health reform act, payroll and the new retirement plan legislation.

Dec. 4 – Maximizing Your Networking Ability. Fundamentals of networking will be explored from a perspective that makes it easy and natural.

The series is developed and created by KCKCC Workforce Development in conjunction with the Wyandotte Economic Development Council, KCK Chamber of Commerce, Unified Government of KCK-Wyandotte County, Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce and Leavenworth County Development Corporation.

Reservations for any or all of the breakfast meetings can be made by contacting Jay Matlack at 913-288-7210 or jmatlack@kckcc.edu.
