KCKCC to offer "Operation Jumpstart" entrepreneurship course

Dreaming of owning your own business? Then “Operation Jumpstart – the First Step” is just for you.

A First Step Entrepreneurship class at Kansas City Kansas Community College to be offered this fall, free orientation classes will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m.-noon and Thursday, Aug. 23, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The orientation is required of all participants and will be held in Room 3619B in the Flint Building on the KCKCC campus at 7250 State Avenue. Registration for the orientation can be made by calling 816-786-3959.

Designed for persons wanting to own their own business, the first of 11 sessions of the class will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The remaining 10 sessions will be held from 6-9 p.m. on successive Thursdays beginning Sept. 13 and running through Nov. 15.

Facilitated by Judy Bumpus of Bloom Business Consulting, the training series will both evaluate a business concept and develop a feasibility plan.

In addition to hearing dynamic guest speakers and entrepreneurs, participants will write a feasibility study for their business concept and work with highly skilled business coaches who will assist in developing those plans. Step-by-step activities, worksheets and in-depth information are also provided in a participant workbook.

Normally priced at $395, the class is being offered for $75. Offered through the Kansas Small Business Development Center in partnership with Workforce Development at KCKCC, the KCK Area Chamber of Commerce and AT&T, persons can register by contacting Judy Bumpus at 816-786-3959 or judybumpus@att.net.
