PHOTO: Back-to-School Day at KCKCC

With some families showing up well before daybreak for the 11th annual Wyandotte County Back-to-School Fair at Kansas City Kansas Community College Saturday, lines stretched nearly the length of the main campus building 30 minutes before the 8 a.m. opening.

More than 3,000 school age boys and girls in Wyandotte County’s public school districts received free books and back packs or book bags.

In addition, students were able to receive immunizations and sports physicals and received lunch from the Kansas City Kansas Public Schools.

A collaborative effort between the Piper, Bonner Springs, Turner and Kansas City, Kan. school districts, KCKCC and various organizations and individuals, major sponsors were the Connect the Dottes Community Coalition, Tri-County Smart Starts, University of Kansas Hospital and KCKCC.
