Metro Sports, Nebraska Furniture Mart to host video game football challenge

Time Warner Cable Metro Sports anchor Mick Shaffer will host a pro football video game challenge on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Nebraska Furniture Mart.

Football fans are invited to come meet Shaffer and check out the event, which will kick off at noon near the fitness area inside Nebraska Furniture Mart. 

Saturday’s event will feature eight Kansas City area gamers competing on the virtual gridiron for bragging rights and a sweet high-definition football gaming setup.

The event will coincide with the recent start of the high school, college and professional football seasons.

Shaffer, a four-time Emmy winning anchor/reporter, is a fixture on Metro Sports’ football coverage, hosting the “High School Gameday” pregame show and “The Honda High School Football Roundup” on Friday nights, as well as the station’s “Varsity KC” show.

Metro Sports is available throughout the Kansas City area on Time Warner Cable (channel 30 and 310 and in HD on 1310), Comcast (channel 258) and Knology in Lawrence (channel 37).
