Standoff ends after nearly eight hours

A nearly eight-hour long standoff ended just after 11 a.m. when Kansas City, Kan., police entered a home on the 2300 Block of Mill Street.

Police officers responded to a call about a shooting in the area at around 3:30 a.m. When arriving on the scene, officers discovered a dead body in the front yard of the home.

The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department entered into a standoff with an individual in a home near the shooting. Police believe the person was the suspect in the shooting, based on a tip they received.

At about 11 a.m., officers entered the home and discovered a body inside the house, one police believe belonged to the suspect in the shooting.

The KCK Police Department is still soliciting for information about the case and are looking for witnesses.
