Time Warner Cable Metro Sports claims four Mid-America Emmy Awards

Time Warner Cable (TWC) Metro Sports walked away from the recent 36th Mid-America Emmy Gala a big winner.

Metro Sports was nominated for eight Emmy Awards this year, and won a total of four Emmys. The station has now won more than 45 Emmy Awards since it launched in December of 1996.

Veteran anchor/reporter Mick Shaffer took home an Emmy for On Camera Talent/Anchor: Sports. Shaffer has now won nine Emmy Awards during his time at Metro Sports.

Video journalist Erik Ashel won three Emmy Awards – Sports: News Feature, Editor: Sports and Photographer: Sports. Ashel has now won an impressive 17 Emmys during his time at Metro Sports.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Mick and Eric, as well as our other nominees,” said Chris Huwe, Metro Sports general manager. “These awards are a testament to the great work our staff does day in and day out covering Kansas City area sports.”

Metro Sports is available throughout the Kansas City area on Time Warner Cable (channel 30, 310 and in HD on 1310), Comcast (channel 258) and Knology in Lawrence (channel 37).
