KCKPD: One person arrested for shootings; fourth victim discovered

The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department released a statement Tuesday evening about the shooting at 73rd and State Avenue.

According to police, there was a fourth shooting victim involved. Additionally, one person has been arrested in connection to the case.

On 11/20/2012, at approximately 1515 hours, the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department responded to the 7300 block of State Ave. on a shots fired call.

While in route an officer observed a male subject, running in the area of the call. The officer observed a handgun in the subject’s waistband and detained him pending further investigation. Upon arrival a crime scene was located and we began a cascade of area hospitals in an attempt to locate victims.

Another call came in of two gunshot victims, dropped off at a Pizza Hut in the area of 77 th & Parallel Parkway. We responded and determined that the two were victims of the 7300 State shots fired call. They were transported to an area hospital; 1 non- life threatening and the other in critical condition.

As the investigation continued we received information from a Missouri hospital and another Kansas hospital that a gunshot victim had come into each hospital. It has been confirmed that their injuries were sustained in connection with the 7300 State Ave. shots fired call.

At this time we have confirmed 4 gunshot victims and 1 person of interest in custody, in connection with the 7300 State Ave. call. The victims are receiving treatment for their injuries.
