$100,000 matching donation to The Salvation Army allows donors to triple their gifts this Holiday season

Salvation Army News Release

Your year-end charitable donation to The Salvation Army will go THREE times farther this year, thanks to a generous donor in the Kansas City area!

A long time supporter of The Salvation Army is pledging to give $2 to The Salvation Army for every $1 donated to the organization online, up to $100,000, through December 31st.

The donation must be made online at www.savationarmy.usor www.onlineredkettle.org/salarmymokan.

“This is a win-win for everyone,” said Major Charles Smith, divisional commander of The Salvation Army in Kansas City. “If you donate $100, it becomes $300, thanks to this matching donation. So the impact of your gift is tripled, helping more people in need in our community.”

The donor is a 101 year old Kansas City area resident who has been a life-long supporter of The Salvation Army. Although she wishes to remain anonymous, she wanted to maximize the reach of her donation.

The Salvation Army’s 2012 Christmas Campaign goal is $9.5 million. The campaign comprises red kettle donations, mail-in gifts, leadership and corporate donations, online contributions and in-kind donations.
