Turner Board of Education president dead after crash

Randy Beery, a major with the Wyandotte County Sheriff's department and the president of the Turner Board of Education, was killed in a car accident Friday night.

Beery, 36, was killed when he lost control of his vehicle on Shawnee Drive.

The vehicle hit a patch of ice and snow, then hit a tree. Beery and a passenger in the vehicle were not wearing seat-belts at the time of the accident.

Following the accident, the Turner School District issued the following statement:

“It is with deep sorrow and condolences to his family and friends that the Turner School District announces the tragic passing of its Board President, Randy Beery. Randy was not only a valuable contributor to the school district, but an active participant in all Turner community affairs. He will be deeply missed.”

The accident occurred on Friday night. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.

He is survived by a wife and four children.
