$30K in damage done to home after fire

The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department responded to a Friday night fire in Kansas City, Kan.

No one was hurt at the fire, located at 2915 Roosevelt St. However, $30,000 worth of damage was done to the home.

The fire happened just after 10 p.m. Friday evening.

"Crews on the scene within two minutes reported heavy smoke coming from a one-story wood framed residential structure," said Craig Duke, battalion chief of the KCK Fire Department. "Crews were informed that all occupants were out of the structure."

According to Duke, the fire's origin was in the basement of the home. The fire spread to the first floor of the home and later on, the attic.

The department is investigating the fire.
