Gender Pay Gap Challenge panel to be held at KCKCC this week

By ALAN HOSKINS

“The Gender Pay Gap Challenge” will be explored in a panel discussion to be held Thursday, March 28, at Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Free and open to the public, the program will be held from 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in Room 2325 of the Jewell Center on the KCKCC campus at 7250 State Ave.

With women consistently earning only 77 percent of what men earn and even less for minorities, the panel will explore why the gender pay gap continues to exist and how women can learn to negotiate for themselves.

Panelists will include researchers Margo Quiriconi and Kristin Wing; Alise Martiny, advocator for women in non-traditional jobs; and Mary Redmond, negotiating consultant.

The program is being co-hosted by the AAUW, Career Center, Intercultural Center, Tech Ed Center, Workforce Development and Community Outreach Counseling/Women’s Resource Center.
