Brownback to visit KU Medical Center Thursday

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback will be visiting Kansas City, Kan., on Thursday.

Brownback will visit the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Here's more information about his visit and why he's making it:
Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback has been touring universities to promote the importance of state funding for higher education. State legislators are proposing cuts to higher education funding for the 2014 budget, but the governor hopes to keep funding at current levels.

KU Medical Center predicts if the proposed House cuts to higher education are passed, KU Medical Center will be forced to reverse recent expansions of the KU School of Medicine, to admit 50 fewer nursing students and to reduce the number of medical residents. Renewal of National Cancer Institute designation for The University of Kansas Cancer Center would also be at risk.
