KCK Public Schools honor top employees for April

The Kansas City, Kan., Board of Education honored two employees as Employees of the Month at their meeting on April 23, 2013: Debbie Wilkins, Secretary at Eugene Ware Elementary School and Michelle McClaine, English Teacher at F.L. Schlagle High School.

Here are the nomination letters for the employees:

“Mrs. Debbie Wilkins is truly the best secretary in USD 500.  She is kind to everyone and strives to do everything she can to make Eugene Ware a happy and friendly school.  Mrs. Wilkins takes care of teachers, loves the children, and makes parents feel as if their concerns are her concern as she cares for their children. She goes above and beyond all duties.  She helps me to keep things together and she always reminds me of things in the most thoughtful way.  We are more than just fortunate to have her, we are truly blessed”.

Sincerely, Collette Chaney, Principal at Eugene Ware

“I want to nominate a wonderful English teacher from the freshman team at F.L. Schlagle.  Her name is Michelle McClaine and she sponsors the drama club.  In December she directed the drama club in the children’s play, ‘The Gingerbread  Baby’.  She managed a large cast on a shoestring budget and did a great job!  She arranged for the parents to attend the dress rehearsal and provide constructive feedback after the the performance, allowing the students to improve their performance and teaching them how to hear constructive criticism; a great life skill that they will need in the world beyond school.  She is a great educator in action everyday."

Sincerely,  Rebecca Brown, Teacher, and Yolanda Thompson, Assistant Principal at F.L. Schlagle High School
