The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department is investigating a fire at 7931 Haskell Ave.

Firefighters responded to the fire in Kansas City, Kan., shortly after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. No one was hurt in the fire, but the fire did cause $20,000 worth of damage.

According to KCK Fire Department Battalion Chief Craig Duke, the family was in the process of moving out of the home.

"Crews on the scene within six minutes reported smoke showing from a split-level residential structure," Duke said. "Crews found the fire in the front living room area. Fire was under control within five minutes and extinguished within 10 minutes."

A primary and secondary search was done inside the home to see if there were people inside, but there were not.

A fire investigator was called to the scene.
