Turner's Carol Cox awarded Crystal Apple Award from Fox 4

Turner School District

Fox 4 Kansas City recognizes four outstanding educators each year with the presentation of the Crystal Apple Award.

On April 17, their fourth award for the 2012-13 school year was presented to Carol Cox of the Turner School District in Kansas City, Kan. Cox is the Alternative Services Coordinator for the Turner School District.

Among her varied assignments, she provides educational programming for students that are homebound.  She was nominated for the Crystal Apple award by Tia Gray, whose daughter, Haley, was unable to attend school due to an invasive form of cancer.

Cox went to Haley’s home to deliver educational services to her during her extensive treatment regimen.  Haley died on November 24, 2012.

Gray showed her appreciation for the sensitive and caring manner that Cox presented in her work with Haley by submitting the nomination for the Crystal Apple Award.
