PHOTOS: Pre-K graduation for KCKCC Child Care students

Graduation came early for a group of pre-kindergartners at the annual Cinco de Mayo and Pre-K graduation celebration at the Campus Child Care Center at Kansas City Kansas Community College Friday.

Wearing graduation caps, nearly a dozen pre-kindergarten students marched in front of parents, family and friends – many of whom were taking photos – at the ceremonies held in the Jewell Center at KCKCC. The students of Jacqueline Agee, each student was then introduced and presented a graduation certificate and gifts by Campus Child Care Director Doris Holleman.

The students and parents also heard a talk on “The Importance of Early Language Literacy” by Mike Macias, Director of the LULAC National Education Service Center, and Data Collection Specialist Eric Martinez gave out sunglasses to every child during a talk on the “Historical Understanding of Mexico and Cinco de Mayo.”


Three-year-old Hazel Dillavou served as a model for Mexican dress for Eric Martinez during his talk on the “Historical Understanding of Mexico and Cinco de Mayo.”


Free sunglasses were the order of the day for three students of Mary Simmonds, a 12-year instructor at the Campus Child Care Center.
