By MATT FULKS, tbonesbaseball.com

The Kansas City T-Bones pitched past Grand Prairie with a 9-8 win in 10 innings at QuickTrip Park on Wednesday afternoon.

With closer Jhonny Montoya (1-0) on the mound in the bottom of the ninth, the T-Bones saw a 7-1 lead evaporate quickly as Montoya gave up three hits and walked four.

In the top of the 10th, however, Kennard Jones added his fourth single of the game, which scored Felix Montoya, who led off the inning with a double. The T-Bones added a needed insurance run when Trevor Coleman singled and knocked in Jones.

Grand Prairie threatened in the 10th inning, but Ethan Cole (1) came in with the bases loaded and one out, and picked up his first save of the season when he induced a game-ending double play from Brandon Pinckney.

Kansas City starter Aaron Meade, who left the game with a 3-1 lead in the seventh, gave up four hits and struck out six in 6 1/3 innings.

The T-Bones spotted Grand Prairie a run in the first inning, but Ray Sadler tied the game in the fourth with his third home run of the season. The T-Bones added an additional run in the fourth inning with back-to-back doubles by Jairo Perez and Molina.

In the eighth inning, leading 4-1, Justin Bass and Devin Goodwin each homered for Kansas City, extending the T-Bones’ lead to 7-1.

The series at Grand Prairie concludes on Thursday at 4:05 p.m., with Lucas Irvine scheduled to start for Kansas City. The live broadcast can be heard online at tbonesbaseball.com or on 1660-AM in Kansas City.
