KCKFD assistant chief injured in car accident

KANSAS CITY, KAN. --- A Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department Assistant Chief was injured in a car accident over the weekend.

The accident happened just after 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 in the area of 2800 S. 55th Street. It was a single car accident.

The assistant chief's identity was not released. The assistant chief was taken to a local hospital for treatment. According to KCK Fire Department Deputy Chief Kevin Shirley, the individual was "severely injured."

Shirley added that both the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol are investigating the accident.
