KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The American Association has announced that T-Bones slugger Matt Padgett is the league’s Pointstreak Hitter of the Week for July 1-7.

Padgett, who has an eight-game hitting streak and has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games heading into Monday night, hit .417 (10 for 24) with a 1.042 slugging percentage, with three doubles, four home runs and eight RBIs in the six games during the week.

On Sunday, in Kansas City’s 8-7 loss to St. Paul, Padgett went three for five with a home run and two doubles, to go along with two RBIs and three runs scored.

For most of the season, Padgett, who’s batting .331 overall, has been at or near the top of several league offensive categories.

Currently, he’s first in the American Association in slugging percentage (.697), second in on-base percentage (.459), tied for second in home runs (14), third in doubles (20), third in RBIs (42) and second in walks (36).

Padgett is the first T-Bones player to garner league player of the week honors since Trent Lare was selected as the Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 31, 2011.
