Sporting Kansas City and Montreal Impact meet on Saturday in battle of top two teams in East

Sporting Kansas City meet the Montreal Impact in an Eastern Conference showdown at Stade Saputo on Saturday.

The top two teams in the Eastern Conference are set to kick off at 6 p.m. CT in the third and final meeting between the two clubs this season.

The match will be broadcast live on KSMO-TV or fans can listen to the match on Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Gran D 1340.

Sporting Kansas City earned a convincing 2-0 victory over Montreal in the two clubs first meeting of 2013, snapping Montreal's perfect (4-0-0) start to the season. Claudio Bieler opened the scoring for Sporting KC in the 5th minute of the match before Graham Zusi doubled the lead in the second half.

When the clubs met in June, Montreal secured the three points despite Bieler giving Sporting KC the first half lead. Montreal scored twice in a six-minute span to start the second half and leveled the all-time series at 2-2-1 with the win.

Sporting KC boasts the best road record in the League during 2013 at 5-2-3 with a +3 goal differential. The Montreal Impact have the highest winning percentage at home in the Eastern Conference with a 6-1-3 record in 2013.

The Impact are coming off a scoreless draw against FC Dallas at home and are winless in their last five MLS matches. Montreal Impact's last victory was against the Houston Dynamo on June 19.

Sporting KC is in the midst of a six-game undefeated run, including a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Supporters Shield leaders Real Salt Lake last weekend. The Sporting KC victory ended Real Salt Lake's 11-game unbeaten streak in all competition.

The match will feature two of the League's best finishers in Sporting KC's Bieler and Montreal Impact's Marco Di Vaio. Bieler is fifth in the League for goals scored with nine in MLS competition. Di Vaio ranks third in MLS with eleven goals scored this season.

Di Vaio and Montreal midfielder Patrice Bernier will join Sporting Kansas City's Matt Besler, Aurelien Collin and Graham Zusi next week for the 2013 AT&T MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday,July 31 at Sporting Park.

Sporting KC will be without Besler (international duty) and Collin (caution accumulation) on Saturday, leaving Manager Peter Vermes without either centerback for the first time since the 2010 season. Paulo Nagamura (left ankle sprain) and Josh Gardner (left hamstring strain) will also miss the match on Saturday due to injury.
