KANSAS CITY, Kan. – In celebration of the 2013 MLS All-Star Game being hosted at Sporting Park in Village West, the Kansas City T-Bones will welcome Lauren Cheney Holiday and Becky Sauerbrunn from FC Kansas City of the National Women’s Soccer League and members of the Missouri Comets of the Major Indoor Soccer League to the T-Bones game on July 31 against the Laredo Lemurs.

The group will participate in the first pitch ceremony and will sign autographs during the game, which is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.

Holiday and Sauerbrunn have both played prominently on the US Women’s National Team. Both were on the 2011 Women’s World Cup squad that finished as a runner-up to champions Japan.

This season with FC Kansas City, Holiday is tied for first in the league with 10 goals.

She has nine assists, also. Sauerbrunn, a defender, is the only player to play every minute of the first two Women’s Professional Soccer regular seasons, a streak that was broken when she left to play for the USA at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.

The Missouri Comets are a reincarnation of the former Kansas City Comets, whose prominence peaked in the early 1980s when the team played at Kemper Arena.

The Comets currently play at the Independence Events Center and have reached the playoffs every year of their existence.

Tickets for Wednesday’s noon game are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618 or at tbonesbaseball.com.
