KANSAS CITY, Kan. – On Friday, July 26, the Kansas City T-Bones will welcome David Mickey Evans, the director and narrator of “The Sandlot” as part of the film’s 20th anniversary summer tour.

Evans will throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the game and then sign autographs on the concourse during the game.

After the game, Evans will introduce the film and answer fans’ questions before a special screening of “The Sandlot” on the CommunityAmerica Ballpark video board for an open audience.

The tour, which debuted in Trenton, N.J. on April 13, will stop at 20 ballparks in 2013 from New Jersey to Los Angeles, including three Major League parks — the Ballpark at Arlington, Target Field and Busch Stadium. The T-Bones are the only independent team included on the tour.

“The Sandlot,” which opened in theaters on April 7, 1993, became a cult classic after releasing on home video. In a review for the Chicago Tribune, Roger Ebert called the film “a summertime ‘Christmas Story.’”

The T-Bones will be playing host to El Paso that night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05. Tickets for the special evening are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618 or at tbonesbaseball.com.
