GARY, IND. – The Kansas City T-Bones kept pace with the Gary SouthShore RailCats for most of the evening, but a one-run lead for the RailCats became eight after the sixth inning with Gary SouthShore taking game one in the series, 10-2.

T-Bones starting pitcher Shaun Garceau (5-8) made it through 6 2/3 innings while allowing just seven baserunners on four hits. After Garceau exited, the Kansas City bullpen allowed six more runs to score in the seventh and eighth innings. Jose Jimenez gave up two in relief of Garceau with two outs in the seventh, and Alex Thieroff labored through the eighth, allowing four hits on four runs.

Kansas City got solo home runs from Luis Rivera and Jairo Perez, which accounted for their only runs of the game. Rivera's homer in the third inning was his second of the season, and Perez's in the sixth was his 18th.

Alain Quijano (10-5) went seven innings, allowing two runs. The win was his 10th of the season, most in the American Association.

The Railcats, who visited Kansas City from May 25-27, have now beaten the T-Bones seven out of the eight games played in 2013. The T-Bones last visited Gary from June 24-27, a four-game sweep in favor of the RailCats.

The T-Bones hand the ball to Lucas Irvine on Tuesday night in game two of the series, with first pitch scheduled for 7:10.
