KCKCC sweeps Indy; gains tie for fourth in region volleyball

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Kansas City Kansas Community College made quick work of Independence Wednesday as the Lady Blue Devils head into the final weeks of the 2013 volleyball season.

Winning 25-7, 25-8, 25-17, the Blue Devils pulled into a tie with No. 18 ranked Butler County for fourth place in the Region with a 5-2 record and 13-7 overall mark with four Jayhawk Conference games to go.

After competing in the Central Nebraska Tournament at Columbus Friday and Saturday, the Blue Devils will play at Butler Wednesday with a chance to move past the Grizzlies.

The Blue Devils also get a shot at No. 1 ranked Cowley County when they host the Tigers Oct. 23. Cowley and No. 3 Johnson County are tied for the Region VI lead at 7-0 followed by No. 18 Neosho County (6-1) and KCKCC and Butler, both 5-2.

In addition to Cowley Oct. 23, KCKCC is home to Coffeyville Oct. 28 and Longview Nov. 5.
