KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Next week, the Unified Government will begin a 45-day campaign to find candidates for the replacement of out-going Wyandotte County Administrator Dennis Hays.

Since Hays announced his retirement on Aug. 1, the UG has been busy creating a "candidate profile" for the position, interviewing "stakeholders" throughout Wyandotte County.

"We will begin the recruiting process," said Unified Government Mayor/CEO Mark Holland. "It will be open for 45 days."

Holland said the goal is to find strong candidates at both the internal level and national level.

"We have a commitment to a nation-wide search," Holland told commissioners at a Thursday night meeting.

Hays will remain with the UG until next spring. Holland said the timeline to find the new county administrator is on track.
