Sporting Kansas City wins Eastern Conference title, advances to MLS Cup

Sporting Kansas City will host MLS Cup 2013 at 3 p.m. CT on Dec. 7 following a 2-1 victory over the Houston Dynamo in the Eastern Conference Championship on Saturday at Sporting Park.

C.J. Sapong and Dom Dwyer scored in front of a record crowd of 21,650 to send Sporting KC to the team's third MLS Cup appearance in team history and first since 2004.

Sporting Kansas City will face the winner of Sunday's Western Conference Championship between the No. 1 seed Portland Timbers and No. 2 seed Real Salt Lake (8 p.m. CT on ESPN). The championship match will be the first MLS Cup held in Kansas City in the team's 18-year history.

Sporting Kansas City season ticket members that purchased the playoff package in the first week of October can secure their seat(s) through the Sporting KC Account Manager on Ticketmaster.com.

All other season ticket members can take advantage of an exclusive pre-sale beginning at 12 p.m. CT on Tuesday and ending at 2 p.m. CT on Wednesday.

Tickets for MLS Cup 2013, while supplies last, will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. CT on Monday, Dec. 2.

Sporting Park -- sold out for the 35th straight MLS match on Saturday -- will become the first stadium to host the MLS All-Star Game, U.S. Men's National Team and MLS Cup in the same calendar year.
