Duplex fire causes $50K worth of damage, no one injured

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ---- A duplex fire in Kansas City, Kan., caused about $50,000 worth of damage.

Kansas City, Kan., firefighters reported to 836 S. 10th Street just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

When arriving on the scene, they discovered that everyone inside the home had evacuated and that the fire was located in the front bedroom of one side of the duplex.

"Crews confirmed that all occupants are out of the structure," said Craig Duke, PIO Deputy Chief of the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department. "Fire was under control within 10 minutes. BPU and Gas Service were called to shut off utilities to structure."

The fire remains under investigation.

No one was injured, but the American Red Cross was called to assist four adults and one child.
