Vic and David’s Blue Devil Deli opens on KCKCC campus

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- There is a new dining option at Kansas City Kansas Community College. Vic and David’s Blue Devil Deli opened Monday in lower Jewell.

Local restaurant Vic and David’s Pizzeria, 8050 Leavenworth Road in Kansas City, Kansas took over just after the first of the year. Hours of the deli will be 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. However, plans are for hours to be extended after the deli’s employees and management become settled in their new home.

“We are super excited to be open,” said Sheri Seeman, manager of Vic and David’s Blue Devil Deli. “Everyone has been so welcoming and kind. We feel right at home here at KCKCC.”

Breakfast items include sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, a breakfast casserole and side items such as hash browns, toast and eggs. For lunch, there are varieties of salads, sandwiches, wraps, pasta, fries and of course, pizza. All of the pastries are fresh baked daily, and Seeman said she hopes to have daily specials start as soon as next week. While Vic and David’s emphasis is on Italian, she said they plan to offer a variety of food items.

“I went to school here, and I don’t remember having something like this to come to,” she said. “This is a place where students and faculty can come, get a drink, have a meal, get a snack and relax before they head off to their next class or meeting. We want this to be a relaxing environment where everyone feels like family.”

Seeman said over the next few weeks, there are plans to repaint the deli area and install menu signage.

“This is not perfect yet, but we plan to make it perfect,” she said. “Everything just meshed for us to come to KCKCC and we are excited to serve the students, faculty and staff on campus.
