KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- The KCK Branch of the NAACP and Women in NAACP (WIN), and the Mary Ann Flunder NAACP Branch at KCKCC will be celebrating the 100 Year Anniversary of the KCK NAACP Branch, Women's History Month, and "Get out the Vote" initiative on Saturday, March 1, 2014, from 1pm - 4pm at Kansas City Kansas Community College, 7250 State Ave., in Kansas City, Kansas, in the upper level Jewell Building.
WIN's National theme for the event is: Outstretched Hands and Open Hearts to Women and Children." Ms. Anita Russell, National Board Member of NAACP, and Ms. Wilhelmina Stewart, NAACP Regional WIN Director, will be the guest speakers at the event. There will also be several exhibits depicting NAACP History and Women's History.
The Annointed Ones gospel group will sing, and there will be a magic show by local comic magician, Gene Hernandez. NAACP members, the community, parents and children are invited and encouraged to attend this three-fold celebration, which is free and has plenty of parking available. Light refreshments will be served. There will be door prizes at the conclusion of the celebration. You must be present to win.
The event is sponsored by United Auto Workers (UAW) Kansas CAP and KCKCC. Please note: The celebration may be cancelled and rescheduled in the event of severe inclement weather.
