Johnna Green sentenced in second degree murder case

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Johnna Green, who pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting second degree murder, has been sentenced to a "controlling term" of 118 months in custody of the Secretary of Corrections.

Johnna Green was sentenced this morning in Wyandotte County District Court to a controlling term of 118 months in the custody of the Secretary of Corrections.

Green pleaded guilty to two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder on January 9, 2014, in connection with the April 2, 2013, attempted drowning of her two daughters, ages four and one, which occurred at her residence in the 2900 block of South 52nd Street in Kansas City, Kansas.

District Judge Michael Grosko sentenced Green to 59 months on each count and ordered the sentences to run consecutive to each other. Court costs in the matter were also taxed to Green.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Edmund Brancart prosecuted the case for the State of Kansas.
