KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Interested individuals still have the opportunity to register for the TEDxWyandotte event that is returning to Kansas City Kansas Community College later this month.

TED, a nonprofit organization, started as a four day conference in California almost 30 years ago and has grown to support “world-changing ideas” with multiple initiatives.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event.

Previously announced presenters include Beth Nybeck, a Kansas City-based artist and sculptor; Tyrone Flowers, who uses his law degree and personal experience triumphing over adversity to help high-risk urban youth and Laura Isaac, who has chosen to explore the research of Dr. Anders Ericsson and the idea that it takes 10,000 hours of directed practice to become an expert at something.

Additional presenters include Mai Tadokoro and Christian Fisher. Tadokoro moved to the United States in 2002 from Nara, Japan. She is an active percussionist and educator in the Kansas City region and is a founding member of Ad Astra Percussion, a new music percussion ensemble group in Lawrence, Kan.

Fisher has spent his career building the best and brightest teams in the technology community. He has worked with Twitter, Yelp, Adknowledge, among others and has become known as a “global force” in regards to talent acquisition.

He has been recognized as one of the top HR/Talent acquisition specialists by HRB Inc. and Forbes and was recently chosen as a Kansas City rising star by the KC Biz Magazine. The final two TEDxWyandotte speakers will be announced later this week.
