Woman injured during police chase in KCK

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- A woman was injured Monday evening in Kansas City, Kan., after her car was hit by another vehicle during a police chase.

She was taken to the hospital after her car was hit head on near 34th Street and Shawnee Drive in KCK.

Following the accident, the man who was pursued by police was arrested after a foot chase.

KMBC Channel 9 reports that the police chase began at a "well-known drug house" in Wyandotte County.

UPDATE 11:08 a.m. - The Wyandotte County District Attorney's Office just sent out this statement to local media members:

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the fatality automobile crash yesterday at 34^th & Shawnee Drive.  While troopers have consulted with the District Attorney, they are not yet prepared to deliver a case and a request for prosecution.  The Patrol is actively following up on the investigation today.  Later this afternoon we may be in a position to release the identity of the driver of the car who, according to published reports, fled from the crash on foot.
