Another title for Bishop Ward baseball

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- For the 13th time in school history, the Bishop Ward Cyclones baseball team has won the state championship.

Ward was crowned state champions after defeating Perry-Lecompton 5-2 in the title game.

It's the 10th state title for Ward under manager Dennis Hurla.

Ward entered the tournament as the seven-seed, but dominated in the first two games of the tournament.

They defeated Russell/Victoria 10-0 earlier in the day after beating Burlington 12-2 in the opening round of the state tournament on Thursday.
