Leavenworth man convicted in KCK homicide, robbery case

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ---- Leavenworth, Kan., resident Marcus G. Butler has been convicted of first degree murder, attempted aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.

Butler was convicted in connection to the shooting death of Matthew Gibson, which happened on the 8200 Block of Monroe Drive on Jan. 9, 2013. Gibson was killed during a robbery that involved both drugs and money.

Butler, 25, will be sentenced on Nov. 24, 2014.

Assistant District Attorneys Sean Boyd and Brett Richman prosecuted the case for the State of Kansas.
