Salvation Army names honorary Christmas Campaign Chairs

The Salvation Army has announced that Kansas City civic leaders Margi and Keith Pence will serve as the organization’s 2014 honorary Christmas Campaign Chairs.

The Salvation Army’s Christmas Campaign in the Kansas City metro area begins November 1 and ends January 31, 2015.

This year’s goal is $11 million. The money raised during the campaign funds Salvation Army programs throughout the year, including food pantries, homeless shelters, transitional housing, emergency assistance and substance abuse programs.

“Keith and I are so proud to represent The Salvation Army this holiday season and help raise awareness and much-needed funding for those in need in the metropolitan area,” said Margi Pence. “The Salvation Army helps tens of thousands in our community every year, who are struggling and in desperate need of support. It is our honor to join with them, and with a legion of generous people in our community to support the Army’s mission to transform and save lives.”

The Salvation Army has been serving people in need in the Kansas City area for nearly 130 years.

Last year, the organization served more than 323,000 meals, provided 105,000 nights of lodging and helped 54,000 individuals with emergency assistance.
