Bonner Springs, Edwardsville school students prepare record number of Thanksgiving meals

BONNER SPRINGS, KAN. – Students from the Bonner Springs/Edwardsville School Districts are hoping to make this holiday season a little brighter for those in need.

Through a district-wide effort, students and staff at Edwardsville Elementary were able to package 65 Thanksgiving baskets for Feed His Lambs.

Feed His Lambs is a nonprofit organization that feeds families in the Bonner Springs/Edwardsville School District.

Edwardsville Elementary has partnered with the organization for several years. For the second year in a row a district-wide food drive was held to collect items for the baskets, and money to purchase gift cards for additional items.

Each basket included vegetables, stuffing, a pumpkin pie and green bean casserole handmade by third graders at EDW, a gift card for a turkey, among other items.

This year’s project was the biggest yet, with a total of 65 baskets going to families who might otherwise not have a Thanksgiving dinner. Kristin Moulin, a Counselor at EDW organized the project and says it’s a great way to give back.

“It’s amazing to see the kids excited to do something for someone else, and it really does make a difference.”
