Piper’s Colton Beebe commits to Minnesota

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Piper Pirates linebacker and two-time Bobby Bell Award winner Colton Beebe will go from the Kaw Valley League to the Big 10 next year.

Colton Beebe committed to the University of Minnesota on Wednesday evening.

This past season for the Pirates, Beebe finished with 152 tackles, averaging nearly 13 tackles a game.

He had five sacks and 23 tackles for loss. During his junior season, Beebe had 159 tackles for the Pirates.

For his varsity football career, Beebe finished with 514 tackles, 41 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. Beebe also grabbed four interceptions from the linebacker position.

If that wasn’t enough, Beebe made a big impact on offense in his four-year Pirates career.

He finished his career with nearly 1,600 rushing yards and 615 receiving yards. He had 37 career touchdowns, including 28 on the ground and 8 scores via the Piper passing game.

Beebe also contributed to Piper's special teams unit.

He was an all-league punter, averaging 35 yards each time he punted the ball. He placed 39 of his 132 career punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard-line, or about 30 percent of his punts.

According to Yahoo!, Beebe received offers from Minnesota, the University of Kansas and Air Force. Beebe visited KU on Dec. 12.
