KANSAS CITY METRO TRAFFIC ALERT: I-35 & I-435 Interchange Area Overnight Lane & Ramp Closure

There will be varying overnight lane and ramp closures at the I-35 and I-435 interchange, weather permitting, beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12 and reopening to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13.

These closures are needed so that the project contractor, GIC, can move and mobilize equipment for construction work taking place on the new I-435 to I-35 flyover ramp bridge.

CLOSES at 10:00 p.m. on  Monday, January 12 – REOPENS at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13 (Bridge Work)

· Northbound I-35 to westbound I-435 ramp CLOSED.
RECOMMENDED DETOUR: Northbound I-35 traffic to proceed past I-435 to exit at 95th Street interchange and head back on southbound I-35 to access westbound I-435 entrance ramp.

· Southbound/eastbound I-435 LEFT TWO LANES from just past 95th Street to I-35 CLOSED.
NOTE: During this time traffic will be directed with channelizers to shift lanes past Lackman Road.

· Westbound I-435 LEFT THROUGH LANE (not the split lane between concrete barriers) at I-35 CLOSED

· Westbound I-435 far LEFT LANE from U.S. 69 to I-35 CLOSED

· Northbound I-35 RIGHT THROUGH LANE at I-435 CLOSED

Advance message boards will alert traffic to the lane and ramp closures. No marked detours will be provided.

Drivers should expect delays during the overnight lane and ramp closures and must use alternate routes overnight during the ramp closure.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
