KANSAS CITY METRO TRAFFIC ALERT: I-35 and U.S. 69/I-635 interchange overhead truss sign replacement project

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- On Monday, March 16, an overhead truss sign replacement project began for a sign structure previously located on the east side of the I-35 and U.S. 69/I-635 interchange in Johnson County.

The overhead sign truss structure was damaged by a vehicle collision in early 2014 and was removed from the roadway at that point in time until needed repairs could be made.

Project work includes lane and ramp closures overnight between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. the following morning at the interchanges. Daytime work will be limited to closures of the highway shoulders only.

No marked detours will be provided. Drivers should expect only minor delays and must use alternate routes during the overnight lane and ramp closures.

Updated daily traffic information for this overhead sign truss replacement project and for the entire Kansas City Metro Area can be viewed online at: www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
