Two new commissioners elected in Wyandotte County

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS. ---- Melissa Bynum and Harold Johnson were elected to the Unified Government's Board of Commissioners on Tuesday night.

Bynum defeated Mark Gilstrap by nearly 1,300 votes, certainly a larger margin of victory than she had in the primary. Nearly 800 write-in votes were made in the race, most of which likely went to Nathan Barnes, who decided to run a write-in campaign after falling short of advancing out of the primary.

Harold Johnson edged out incumbent Tarence Maddox by a 55-44 percent margin.
