July 4th holiday to impact trash services

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ---- Deffenbaugh, in observance of the July 4th holiday, will not be picking up trash on Thursday.

Full schedule changes:

Deffenbaugh will be observing July 4th as a holiday. Deffenbaugh will not be picking up residential trash or curbside recycling on Thursday the 4th of July in Kansas City, Kansas. Service for both trash pickup and curbside recycling for Thursday and Friday will be impacted.

• Thursday July 4th pickup will be done on Friday, July 5th.

• Friday July 5th pickup will be done on Saturday, July 6th.

• Monday, July 1st through Wednesday July 3rd pickup will not be impacted.

REMINDER: KCK's fireworks ordinance

KANSAS CITY, KAN. --- Below is the fireworks ordinance for those interested in shooting fireworks in Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kan.

No person shall ignite or discharge any fireworks within 1,000 feet of any hospital, sanitarium, infirmary, or home for the aged.

No person shall ignite or discharge any fireworks into, under, or on a car or vehicle, whether it is moving or standing still.

No person shall ignite or discharge any fireworks within 150 feet of any retail stand or facility where fireworks are stored.

No person shall throw or place any fireworks in any assembly or gathering of persons.

No person shall throw, place, ignite, or discharge any fireworks on any sidewalk, street, or alley.

No person shall ignite or discharge any fireworks in any building.
