Christmas, New Year's trash pick-up schedules announced

Deffenbaugh will not be picking up residential trash or curbside recycling on Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 25th.  

There will be normal trash and recycling services on Monday and the Tuesday pickup will be done on Wednesday, Dec. 26 and continue as follows: 

• Wednesday pickup will be done on Thursday, Dec. 27th

• Thursday pickup will be done on Friday, Dec. 28th

• Friday pickup will be done on Saturday, Dec. 29th

The pickup schedule also applies to New Year's Day, Tuesday January 1, 2013. There will be normal trash and recycling services on Monday, but no trash and recycling services on Tuesday.

• Tuesday pickup will be done on Wednesday, Jan. 2nd

• Wednesday pickup will be done on Thursday, Jan. 3rd

• Thursday pickup will be done on Friday, Jan. 4th

• Friday pickup will be done on Saturday, Jan. 5th 

Trash, recycling collections to begin an hour early next week

As a result of the predicted temperatures in next week's forecast, Deffenbaugh Industries has decided to start picking up trash and recycling collections one hour early.

Crews will begin picking up trash in Wyandotte County at 6 a.m. on July 23.

Residents are asked to put their trash and recycling materials prior to that time.

"We have been careful during this ongoing heat wave, but when we looked at next week's forecast, we knew we had to take extra measures to protect our employees," said Tom Coffman, a company spokesperson. "Allowing our residential crews to begin their work an hour earlier will make a huge difference for our people in terms of their health, safety and efficiency. Our city and county partners were quick to agree to this safety measure, and we can't thank them enough for their help."
