Fire inside restaurant causes $30K in damage

A fire Saturday afternoon at a restaurant located at 4960 State Avenue caused roughly $30,000 worth of property and content damage.

Kansas City, Kan., firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire at around 2:15 p.m. to tackle the fire.

No one was injured.

"Crews on the scene within four minutes reported smoke coming from the basement of a restaurant," said Craig Duke, spokesperson and deputy chief for the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department. "Crews found only one way into basement that had no windows. Crews were able to locate fire and set up fans for ventilation."

According to Duke, the fire was under control within 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and a fire investigator was called out to the scene.
