BPU board elects new officers

News Release:
Members of the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) elected new officers to the Board.  New officers include: David Alvey, President; Mary Gonzales, Vice President; Jeff Bryant, Secretary.

Before being elected Board President, David Alvey served as Vice President. He has been on the BPU Board of Directors since 2009.

Mr. Alvey is the fifth generation of his family to live in Wyandotte County. He is the Dean of Students of Rockhurst High School. Mr. Alvey also served on the Planning and Zoning Commission of the Unified Government.

He taught U.S. history at Rockhurst High School and served as Program Director of the Student Support Program in Marin County, California.

He graduated from Savior of the World High School and attended Rockhurst College before graduating Summa Cum Laude in Philosophy and Letters from St. Louis University. David and his wife Ann Marie are the parents of five children: Juliana, Christiana, Joseph, Mariana and Analisa.

Other elected officers are Mary Gonzales, Vice President and Jeff Bryant, Secretary.
Gonzales has served on the Board since 2001. Bryant has served on the Board since 2011. Both Gonzales and Bryant will work closely with Alvey in their new roles.
