Shepherd's Center to host program June 15

A free program of the Shepherd’s Center held the third Friday of every month at First Baptist Church, 29th & Minnesota.

Everyone is welcome.

The Adventures in Learning schedule for June 15, 2012 is as follows:

9:00—10:00 a.m. Health Screenings (no cost)
Blood Sugar and Pressure Checks by Spectrum Home Health. We recommend that no food be eaten 2-3 hours before blood sugar checks.

9:00—10:00  Registration and Fellowship
Refreshments available while you meet & greet.

10:00 – 11:50 a.m. Special Workshop Event- Peer Support
We are offering a one-time Peer Support training opportunity during this two hour time slot. Shepherd’s Center board members will be in attendance, and others are welcome to join.

10:00—10:50 Workshops (choose one)
Travelogue: “World’s Greatest Train Ride” – Video presentation led by Mabel Shutt, Community Volunteer
Issues Forum: “Legislative Update” – Representative Tom Burroughs, District 33

11:00 - 11:50 a.m.  Workshops (choose one)
Words of Inspiration: Pastor Mic McGuire, Living Water United Methodist Church
History: “200th Anniversary of the War of 1812” – Part II, Ed Shutt, Local Historian
Health: Marilyn Bakarich, Sacred Heart Home Health Care

12:00 Noon: Lunch—$4 or may bring your own
Menu: Chicken patty w/ whole grain bun, potatoes O’Brien, mixed veggies, and tropical fruit mix for dessert.
