TRAFFIC: Turkey Creek bridge repair project to begin in Wyandotte County

On Tuesday, Sept. 4, a repair project will begin on the US-169/7th Street Trafficway Bridge over Turkey Creek, between I-35 and Southwest Boulevard, in Kansas City, Kan.

Project work includes joint replacement and bridge deck patching.

Work will take place during daylight hours (7 a.m.- 5 p.m.), Monday through Friday.

Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7 a.m., traffic will be reduced to one through lane over the bridge throughout the project duration and will be directed through the project work zone via signage and concrete barriers.

Work will begin first on the northbound bridge then move to the southbound bridge.

There will be a posted speed limit of 30 mph and a 12-foot lane width restriction through the project work zone.

Advance message boards will alert drivers to the lane closures.

Drivers should expect major delays during the peak hours and are advised to use alternate routes, if possible. Updated daily traffic information for this project can be viewed online at: www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.

Clarkson Construction (Kansas City, MO) is the primary contractor on this $162,402 bridge repair project.

The bridge repair project is scheduled to be completed in mid-October 2012, weather permitting.
