Federal Bureau of Labor: Wyandotte County ranked 19th nationally in job growth

According to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, Wyandotte County is one of the top 20 communities in the nation in terms of job growth.

A report from the bureau indicated that employment in Wyandotte County has increased by 4.0 percent from March 2011 to March 2012.

The statistic puts Wyandotte County 19th nationally in terms of job creation and number one among counties in the Kansas City metro area.

"This report is encouraging news that jobs are being created at record levels in Wyandotte County," said Unified Government Mayor/CEO Joe Reardon in a statement. "While we are glad to see these results we continue to focus on doing all we can to foster an environment where more jobs will be created in our community."

Wyandotte County was 19th among 329 communities and cities studied. The 4.0 percent increase was well above the national growth average of 1.8 percent.

Johnson County saw a 3.7 percent increase during the same period.
